A Monroe man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk in Greene County.
According to court documents, 40-year-old Joseph Gilpin was pulled over by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper just before 6pm Tuesday near Reuter’s Red Power in Grand Junction. Court documents show the trooper witnessed Gilpin swerving on the eastbound lane of Highway 30 and the radar clocked the 2008 Chevrolet Impala going 65 miles per hour in a 55mph zone.
As the trooper was talking to Gilpin, the trooper noticed Gilpin’s eyes were watery and bloodshot, along with slurred speech and confusion of where he was. Gilpin refused to take a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test. Gilpin also didn’t have a driver’s license or proper vehicle registration.
Gilpin was arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for an OWI, an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred, and a simple misdemeanor for speeding. He was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
