Two Iowans are on Capitol Hill testifying before a US Senate committee about the agriculture industry.
Senator Chuck Grassley invited Iowa Farm Bureau President Brent Johnson and the Chief Operating Officer of Sievers Family Farms Bryan Sievers to give their statements to the Senate Budget Committee on “Cultivating Stewardship: Examining the Changing Agricultural Landscape.”
Grassley talks about the goal of why the Senate Budget Committee Chair Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Delaware) is using this committee to have these kinds of testimonials.
“Some of this is to get the interest of agriculture expressed in the whole global warming aspect, well how agriculture contributes to it, how agriculture is doing its share to cut down on greenhouse gasses like through minimum tillage, no tillage, through cover crops and things of that manner.”
Grassley is the Republican ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee.
