Thursday, May 25th

1:25am: An officer located an Open Door and secured the building at 501 West Greenewood Rd.

1:56am: A Traffic Stop in the 100 Block of North Grimmell resulted in Ian McElderry of Jefferson being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

9:11am: Terry Becker reported two Stray Dogs near Pinet and Washington Streets. The officer located the owner and warned him about the issue. He was advised he will receive a citation in the future if it continues,

9:28am: A caller advised of a dog attacking her son and dog, while he was walking his dog. The parents refused to cooperate with the officer, who did not witness the event.

1:22pm: Kashia Cooklin reported a Parking Complaint in the 1900 Block of North Grimmell Road. The vehicle had left the area before the officer arrived.

2:12pm: Dispatch reported an Open Line 911 Call from the area of the 300 Block of East Perry Street. The officer did not locate anyone in the area.

3:11pm: A caller advised of a pit bull being locked in a kennel most of the time in the 300 Block of East State Street. The officer checked and no violations of ordinances had occurred.

4:43pm: Nicole Tasler requested an officer at 304 South Walnut Street, for a property line issue with a neighbor. The officer advised they need to have a survey completed to know exactly where the property line is.

5:52pm: A caller spoke to an officer concerning a friend’s report last week about a

reported assault. They were advised the investigating officer would contact them.

6:37pm: Amy Walker requested an officer at 706 West Monroe Street for a dispute with a neighbor. Both parties involved were instructed by the officer to end contact with each other.

8:22pm: A caller reported a possible Intoxicated Driver on North Grimmell Road. The officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver, who showed no signs of impairment.

11:21pm: An officer located a small group in Russell Park. The officer advised them the park had closed and they left the area.

11:33pm: During a Traffic Stop, the officer arrested the driver for outstanding JPD Arrest Warrants. Jason William Sheldahl, 52 of Scranton had warrants for, “Trespass/Damage and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree.”

Friday, May 26th

7:26am: An officer located a Stray Dog in the 500 Block of South Chestnut Street. The dog was placed in the Animal Holding Facility.

10:58am: Jennifer Brown reported a juvenile driving Recklessly near Grimmell and Wall Streets. The officer has spoken to a parent of the juvenile, the juvenile, and all others involved. Charges are pending at this time.

12:09pm: An officer was called to 101 Ram Drive for a reported Assault. The officer viewed the video of the event and a 13-year-old juvenile male was taken into custody, charged with “Simple Assault” and released to a parent.

12:12pm: A caller advised of a Careless Driver at 1901 North Grimmell Road. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.

6:21pm: An officer assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a Structure Fire at 200

South Maple Street. An unattached garage, containing two vehicles, was a total loss. A third vehicle was parked just outside of the garage and received damage. The Fire Chief did not find the fire suspicious and believed it was caused by electric outlets.

7:51pm: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in the 400 Block of North Olive Street. A 2020 Jeep Renegade, owned by Kelsy Coffin of Jefferson, was parked on North Olive Street. A 2022 Chevy Silverado, owned and operated by Kelly Derry of Jefferson, was backing from a private drive and struck the Coffin vehicle. The Coffin vehicle had a reported $600.00 in damages, while the Derry vehicle had a reported $100.00 in damages.

8:25pm: Jefferson Fire was sent back to the garage fire, for a nearby tree on fire. The hotspot was put out.

2:01pm: A Traffic Stop in the 700 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Brandi Rundial of NE. being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

Saturday, May 27th

6:43am: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Elm resulted in Neal Nelson of IL. Being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

10:38am: A Traffic Stop at 250th and Elm resulted in David Gimer of Iowa Falls being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

11:13am: A Traffic Stop in the 1500 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Lachelle Brend of Lohrville being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

12:27pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1400 Block of North Grimmell Road resulted in Angie Healy of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

3:08pm: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.

3:19pm: Jane Alexander reported receiving Scam e-mails. The officer advised her to not open the suspicious e-mails.

8:25pm: ER reported a Dog Bite at 1000 West Lincoln Way Street. The patient was a young

boy with a puncture wound on his arm. The child had been warned to stay away

from a friend’s dog, which was crated. He stuck his arm inside and was bitten. City

ordinances state, “Without Provocation” when dealing with an animal bite. The

animal is current on vaccinations.

8:41pm: A caller advised of subjects lighting off fireworks in the 700 Block of West Monroe Street. The officer spoke to the subjects, who denied lighting them off.

Sunday, May 28th

5:54am: Jacie Hawthorn reported the Theft of a $300.00 cell phone from 304 North Chestnut Street. The officer is investigating.

10:05am: David Tyryfter requested a Welfare Check on a subject in the 700 Block of West Harrison Street. The officer located the subject, who advised he was fine.

5:22pm: Dispatch advised of a 911 Hang Up call that mapped near Oly’s, located at 208

West Lincoln Way Street. The officer did not locate anyone in the area.

5:33pm: Rich Burkhardt reported he was nearly struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the 200 block of South Olive Street. The officer is investigating.

6:53pm: An officer assisted a subject, who had locked themselves out of a residence in the 800 Block of West Harrison Street. The officer was able to gain entry without damage.

Monday, May 29th

8:46am: Rich Burkhardt called to voice his opinions on law enforcement and was very upset his claim of being struck by a car on his bike had not been handled. The officer tried to explain it was being investigated, but Burkhardt ended the call.

11:08am: A Traffic Stop at Reed and Elm Streets resulted in Debra Curtis of Boone being cited for, “Operation without Registration and Driving While Suspended.”

12:28pm: A caller reported a four-wheeler traveling at a high rate of speed near Washington and Olive Streets. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.

12:35pm: An officer was requested at 709 Pinet Place for a family argument. The officer learned that some of the subjects wanted others to move out. The officer advised they need to do a formal eviction before anyone has to leave.

6:34pm: An officer removed debris from the roadway near Lincoln Way and Locust Streets.

7:14pm: Bill Berger reported a Stray Dog in the 400 Block of North Olive Street. The officer did not locate the dog.

7:37pm: A Traffic Stop at Elm and Central resulted in Jason Truitt of Jefferson being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

9:28pm: A Traffic Stop at Pinet and Washington Streets resulted in Jamie Blackmon of GA. being cited for, “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.”

Tuesday, May 30th

9:30am: Yvon Day reported a subject, who drives by a lot, waived at her. She was frightened by this action.

12:02pm: Brooke Venteicher reported a dog, who was tangled up in it’s cable, at 302 North Oak Street. The officer made contact with the owner, who took the animal inside.

12:04pm: A Traffic Stop near Locust and Lincoln Way Streets resulted in Brandy Burrow of Perry being cited for, “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability and Operation without Registration.”

1:16pm: Officers and deputies are investigating a Burglary at the City Impound Lot. Someone entered the locked facility and removed items from the vehicles being held there.

3:57pm: Jaden Koller reported a Stray Dog at 1207 North Elm Street. The owner had grabbed the dog before the officer’s arrival.

4:41pm: Dispatch advised on an Open 911 Call in the area of the 900 Block of West Harrison Street. The officer spoke to a subject in the area, and learned it was a pocket dial.

8:44pm: A Traffic Stop at Russell and Locust resulted in Gabe Ebersole of Jefferson being cited for, “Dark Windows.”

10:34pm: Carol Schultz reported subjects attempting to steal a vehicle at 803 South Chestnut Street. The officer determined a subject had broken down in the area, and knows the owner of the truck. They were looking for tools to make repairs on their vehicle.

11:05pm: A Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of North Wilson resulted in Denis Alberto-Rivera of Jefferson being cited for, “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability and No License.”

Wednesday, May 31st

2:11am: An officer located an Open Door and secured the building at 600 East Lincoln Way Street.

2:57am: An officer located an Open Door and secured the building at 123 North Chestnut Street.

3:26am: A Traffic Stop at Elm and 250th Street resulted in Gary McVay of Creston being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

12:41pm: Chuck Barthow reported driver’s are not obeying the stop lights at Elm and Russell Streets. Officers will patrol the area as much as possible.

1:15pm: An officer removed a bat from the porch of 501 South Vine Street.

3:43pm: A caller advised of a Careless Driver near Adams and State Streets. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.

5:08pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1400 Block of North Grimmell Road resulted in Torie Lawrence of Ft. Dodge being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

9:44pm: A Traffic Stop near State and Maple Streets resulted in Daniel Winger of Jefferson being cited for, “Fail to Have a Valid License.”

10:29pm: Dispatch advised of a 911 Hang Up call from the area of 608 West Lincoln Way Street. The officer did not locate anyone needing assistance in the area.

11:06pm: Kim Garcia requested an officer at 709 Pinet Place, for a dispute with family members. The officer could take no action in the Civil Issues.

******** A citation was issued to Michael Rumley for, “Reckless Driving.” The citation was issued after an investigation into an event on 05/26/2023 near Grimmell and Wall Streets.
