A Friday evening fire destroys a garage in Jefferson.
Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Jefferson and Grand Junction Fire Departments, Jefferson Police Department, Greene County Ambulance and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to the structure fire at 6:22pm at 200 South Maple Street.
Williams says several people were in the house and no one was in the garage when it started on fire. The garage and two nearby parked trucks were total losses, while the house sustained some siding and water damage. Williams adds no one was hurt and the suspected cause of the fire was a grill that was inside the garage. According to the Greene County Assessor’s Office, the property is owned by Jonathan and Emily Fast.
