Today the Guthrie Center American Legion Auxiliary Unit is hosting its first Red, White and Blue Cruise.
Main street Guthrie Center businesses are serving breakfast from 7:30-9am at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds, and those people interested in participating in the event can start registering at 8:30am, unless they’ve already done so. The registration fee is $25, and the Auxiliary asks that payments be made in cash or check form.
Everyone will begin departing from the fairgrounds at 10am, and have several places that they can choose to go to. The many stops include the Guthrie County Freedom Rock, Short’s Place in Menlo, Pioneer’s Pub and Grub and Casey Creamery in Casey, the original Freedom Rock on Highway 25, and the end point for the trip will be the Blue Goose in Adair.
Participants can drive their four wheelers, utility terrain vehicles (UTV’s) and Jeeps to get around while traveling, and all the eateries along the way will have some kind of food available, including the Menlo American Legion Auxiliary who will serve lunch at the Menlo City Park. Pioneer’s Pub and Grub will also have one free drink for every veteran.
To end everything off at the Blue Goose, there will be a silent auction and raffle, along with poppies made by a local veteran. All proceeds from the event will be used to fund awards and scholarships the Auxiliary gives out to the local community.
