Dallas Center-Grimes had a few athletes compete on day one of the class 4a state track and field meet in Des Moines on Thursday
The Mustang girls 4×800 made school history with the fastest time 9:35.55 which placed them in 10th place. The team was made up of Meredith and Emerson McDermott, Tess Meggison and Maddy Stevens.
In addition, Kileigh Lachacz added a new school record in the Discus Throw with her throw of 138 feet and 6 inches, which got her a silver medal in second. Then Maddy Stevens placed 18th in the 3000 meter run.
The Mustangs also had Anthony Glay from the boys track and field team perform in the high jump. He finished 15th with a jump of 6 feet and 1 inch.
