This summer the Guthrie County Conservation Department will be doing some work on the Raccoon River Valley trail.

Conservation Director Brad Halterman says that there are several spots on the trail where bridges need their approaches worked on, or even replaced. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that those repairs will be starting soon.

“A mile section of the trail will actually be closed May 22nd through May 25th. The section that we’re going to be working on that’s going to be closed is the section just south of Highway 141.”

Halterman advises that this initial stretch where they are doing repairs will start on the south side of Highway 141 and continue on to the next road, which is 130th St a mile away. He mentions that even though this small part of the trail will be temporarily closed, the rest of the trail is still open for those who would like to enjoy the outdoors.
