Another new business recently opened on the east side of Jefferson.
The RC Shack is owned by Darrin Charlson, who relocated the business he had in Churdan for six years. Charlson offers lots of different kinds of remote controlled vehicles, including cars, trucks, mini helicopters, airplanes, boats, drones and Hot Wheels. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he’s been doing this kind of venture for a long time.
“I’ve been doing this since the 1980s and I just love it. I just had a lot of people come to me, ‘Can I get this from me?’ And I had the building and the land already and I said, ‘I’m going to do this.’ So I did it.”
Charlson also sells replacement parts and upgrades as well as building an outdoor wooden track that he plans to have Saturday races later this summer. Charlson points out they also do boat races at Spring Lake Park every Sunday. He talks about his favorite part of his business and his love of all things remote controlled.
“I just like dealing with all the RC people, they’re all pretty good people. And like I said, I’ve got them from 4 or 5 years old, and we got one guy here, he’s 84 (and) goes out with us every Sunday.”
The RC Shack is open Friday and Saturday from noon-6pm at 702 East Lincoln Way.
