Dallas Center-Grimes girls golf team battled wet and soggy conditions for the Little Hawkeye Conference meet, and they had two golfers medal on Monday.
Senior Laura Klaessy shot a 94 with a 45 on the front nine and 49 on the back, which placed first on the team and fourth overall in the tournament. Klaessy was awarded with a medal and tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the conditions were rough, but she felt confident with her driver and wedges.
“I definitely want to improve on putting. My chips were pretty good, but putting I probably three putted three holes maybe, which is not very good, but I was happy overall with how I did.”
Senior Lydia Eligh also medaled with a score of 102, which placed second on the team and 12th overall, with a 54 on the front and a 48 on the back. The Mustangs placed seventh out of seven teams with a score of 428. Just one stroke behind Newton in sixth place . Indianola had four golfers shoot under 100 and were named with Little Hawkeye Champions with a score of 372. Now the girls golf team will stay home for one more regular meet at the Beaver Creek Golf Course in Grimes on Thursday, before the regional qualifier on May 17th at Vaneeker Memorial Golf Course.
