Many Guthrie County farmers have started planting and are working to get their crops in the field soon.

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director for Iowa Matt Russell tells Racoon Valley Radio that once farmers do get their crops planted, they need to report to the local FSA office to make a crop report.

“Farmers will come into the county office, report what they planted, the dates they planted them. So that’s going to be happening as soon as farmers get done. That’s a big time when we’re going to see lots of farmers getting into our county offices and having that interaction with our staff.”

Russell mentions that this report is something that happens annually. He adds that for 2023, farmers need to submit their report by July 15th.
