Perry Elementary and St. Patrick’s students dug deep into the ground to plant a couple of trees Friday afternoon.
In support of Arbor Day the Hy-Vee in Perry donated two trees to be planted in Weise Park but they needed the help from several Perry Elementary and St. Pat’s students, and the Perry Parks and Recreation Department to dig and plant the two trees. Hy-Vee in Perry Events Coordinator Larry Vodenik tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he was happy the weather cooperated and the students had fun.
“The kids enjoy it and they get a chance to get their hands dirty and I always encourage them to keep an eye out on their tree that they planted.”
The Hy-Vee in Perry also sponsored the toilet paper tube recycling challenge, in which they donated a pizza party to the class that recycled the most toilet paper tubes.
