The high school track & field season is past the halfway mark for the Greene County Rams. Coach Derek Merk’s girls and Chad Morton’s boys go to the Gilbert Coed Relays in that Story County community today. Competition is expected to be at a high level for girls and boys.

Both teams found out last Friday they’ve qualified for the Drake Relays in the 4 x 100 meter relay, which has preliminaries on Saturday morning at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Seniors Olivia Shannon, Kamryn Sanders, Katrina Heupel and Natalie Heupel qualified that event for the girls while junior Trey Schilling, sophomore Camden Strennen, plus seniors Richard Daugherty and Jesse Miller qualified the boys. High school events for the Drake Relays begin on Thursday afternoon and are sprinkled throughout Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
