Courses may have been a bit wet, but Greene County hosted Glidden-Ralston on Thursday in high school golf. The girls played at The Hill west of Grand Junction and the boys were at Jefferson Community Golf Course.
Greene County won the boys’ meet 173-211 behind the 37 for nine holes from junior Jack Hansen. G-R’s Carson Peters was runner-up at 44. The other scores counting in the Greene County team total were 45’s from freshman Nathan Towers and senior Parker Fitzpatrick. Junior Nathan Behne shot 46 in his first round of the season, practice or in competition, after knee surgery late last year.
Boys’ coach Kyle Kinne told Raccoon Valley Radio the course looked great, although it was a little wet, cold, and windy, for a golf meet. The coach said he’s hoping the Rams will be at full strength for the first time tomorrow at the Perry Tournament.
Greene County girls’ started their round with just three girls and only two finished the nine hole round because of an injury to Skylar Warnke. Maya Telleen shot 55 and Taylor Johnston came in at 58. Coach Heath Telleen said it was very cold and windy and he was pleased with the two Greene County scores. G-R shot 229 and was led by medalist Addy Boell at 46 and Liz Lloyd, the runner-up at 51.
