The Adel City Council met on Tuesday.
The Council approved the fiscal year 2023-24 budget and that includes three new full-time staff positions, expanding one from part-time to full and a variety of capital expenses and equipment upgrades. The total proposed property tax levy is $14.27 which was a 17-cent increase compared to fiscal year 2022-23. Also, the budget’s general fund revenue was reduced by roughly $53,000 due to lower property tax valuations.
The Council then approved the temporary street closures for Dallas County’s Administration Building downtown for North 9th Street from Court to Rapids Street, replacing the Island Park Sanitary Sewer Tank and Pump System for the cost of $16,380, RDG Planning and Design to conduct the City’s downtown design project guidelines for the total cost of $21,850 and they approved the grant contract with the state for the city’s Wastewater and Drinking Water Treatment Financial Assistance Program. Additionally, non-union city employees wages and the final agreement with the fiscal year 2023-23 wages. They tabled the HR Green’s pavement management design standards and the county’s acquisition proposal for the alleyway behind the old Culligan and Bail Bonds Builds.
