The Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation recently announced grant recipients for 2023 and Dallas County Community Foundation was a part of the cycle.
GGCGC is the gaming license holder of Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson, and as part of an agreement with the State of Iowa, they allocate five-percent of the casino’s adjusted gross revenues to present as local grants. They were able to give out $1.8 million to nearby organizations and entities, and the Dallas County Community Foundation received a portion of that totaling $52,000 to spread to five different county projects. That includes Perry Rotary Club Foundation receiving $20,000 to build their inclusive playground, YMCA of Greater Des Moines awarded $20,000 for their Waukee Family Makerspace, the Raccoon River Pet Rescue collecting $7,000 for their partition fencing and the Adel-DeSoto Fine Arts Booster Club was awarded $5,000 for classroom keyboard. DCCF Board President Megan Cline talks about growth of the Dallas County Foundation.
“This is not possible without that partnership. We have numbers that, like Lynn (Ubben) mentioned from 2006, we gave away $45,680 and now we’re currently giving away, like I said, $169,393. Look at how the numbers have grown. The Grow Greene County money is more than the number we started with in the beginning. So with that combination and with the Dallas County Foundation funds, we are really able to give some great positive improvements to Dallas County, and that’s what we’re all about.
The Dallas County Foundation has awarded a total $169,393 in grant funds to 25 different county projects in 2023.
