Greene County’s high school track & field squads both are set for action today at different locations. Coach Derek Merk’s girls’ team goes to Le Grand for the East Marshall Mustangs meet while Coach Chad Morton’s boys travel to Saydel for the Eagles’ Invitational in Des Moines.

Track & Field athletes in Iowa high schools have another week for performances to be submitted for Drake Relays qualification. The Relays determines what events and the number of qualifiers per event it will accept.

According to statistical website Bound Iowa, the Greene County’s girls are sitting in 40th place in the 4 x 100 meter relay, an event where 96 quartets will be entered. The Rams are 24th in the 4 x 200 and 29th in the 4 x 400, and both events will have 24 Drake Relays qualifiers.

The Greene County boys are 104th in the 4 x 100.
