A non-profit organization will host a concert for the public to enjoy. 

The Perry Fine Arts will bring back the Greater Des Moines Community Band for a concert this weekend. The Greater Des Moines Community Band is a volunteer ensemble made up of 80 or more members from all walks of life. Perry Fine Arts Chairperson Cathy Clark says that their concert will be called “Celebrating and Connecting Thru Music,”  and they will perform classical music with new music numbers this year. 

“It’s long been known that music can help us learn, help us heal, can help us rejoice, can help us through tough times and create lasting friendships and memories so we’re just really excited to have them.” 

The Greater Des Moines Community Band will also have a familiar guest performer that includes former Perry High school Band Director Steve Cook. The event is free and open to the public with no ticket necessary but Perry Fine Arts will ask for a free will donation.
