The Chargers boys track and field team traveled to Van Meter Thursday and was able to grab a nice second place finish behind ADM, and ahead of some larger schools like Winterset and Greene County. The Chargers had a total of 128 points, and broke 3 school records.
Junior Lance Bunde was able to break the high jump record with a jump of 6ft 2.5in, the previous record being set in 2021 by Clayton Wardyn at 6ft 2in. The jump placed a gold medal in Bunde’s hand. Senior Justin Reinhart was able to break the record for the 3200m or 2 mile run, with a time of 9 minutes 50.91 seconds, and grabbing a gold medal of his own. The previous record of 9 minutes 57.37 seconds was set in 2018 by Noah Nelsen. Junior Payton Jacobe broke his own record of 48ft 1.5in, which he had set in AC/GC’s previous meet. His gold medal throw came in at 48ft 6in.
