Iowa hasn’t had a disaster proclamation in place for Covid for some time now, but the national proclamation has still been in place.

Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber says that that is changing soon though. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the national proclamation will be over at the end of May.

“What that means is that we are at a level now where we’re seeing hospitalizations that have gone down enough and we’re seeing cases drop, and we’ve seen everything kind of come back down into a more normal, more manageable, a more seasonal approach.”

Arber mentions that that means that several places will now charge for Covid vaccines, but tells Guthrie County residents not to worry, as the Public Health Department has enough vaccines at the moment to get through at least the end of the current calendar year.
