The Panorama Panther soccer teams hit the pitch for the first time this season. They were both taking on the Harlan Cyclones.
The girls were up first. They were playing a Cyclone team they beat last year, 1-0. The Panthers also hadn’t lost to Harlan, winning all three match ups. This was no different for Panorama. The Panthers had big production from their underclassmen. Freshman Morgan Crees had three goals on the day. Sophomore Shay Lemke also hit the back of the net. She would pick up two goals to give the Panthers a 5-1 win.
The boys were looking to avenge the 4-1 loss they suffered last season. It was a high scoring first half. Harlan held a slight lead 2-1. Panorama was aggressive in the second, but junior goalkeeper Quentin McDowell had a strong showing. He had 5 saves in the game and shut out the Panthers in the second half. The Cyclones would come away with the win, 2-1.
Both teams will have a quick turn around. They’ll be taking on Kuemper Catholic, the boys will travel to Carroll, while the girls will be in Panora. Both games will start at 5:30pm on Thursday.
