Iowa Auditor Rob Sand recently released findings from the audit of Adair County.

The County’s revenues totaled $16,577,579 for the year ending June 30, 2022, a 9.8% increase from the previous year. The expenses for that same year were $12,658,917, a 35.5% increase from the year before. Sand says that the increases are primarily due to an increase in bridge replacement funding from the Iowa Department of Transportation, and American Rescue Plan Act grant funds considered as lost revenue during the pandemic and used for road projects.

Sand reported that there were two findings related to the receipt and expenditure of taxpayer funds, which were repeated from the previous year. They were a segregation of duties, and disbursements exceeding budgeted amounts. The Auditor also provided recommendations to the County on addressing the findings.
