Everyone is invited to listen to a variety of music Tuesday night at the Greene County High School auditorium.

The music department is hosting the annual Pops Concert with concert band and choir, along with jazz band and jazz choir. The concert band will be performing music of human development from the beginning of humankind to futuristic. The concert choir is going to sing songs from the Marvel movie “Guardians of the Galaxy,” while the jazz choir, Ram Jive, does its contest set of songs and the jazz band will perform a couple of their set pieces. Gavin Vander Linden will perform in every ensemble that evening and he tells Raccoon Valley Radio about how he sees the jazz band improving.

“We didn’t get a (Division) I(-rating) at state jazz band this year but we’re getting a lot better. We’re improving constantly. (Band Director) Mr. (Wes) Anderson is kind of picking this program back up. We’re going at it and I think next year we can definitely get a (Division) I(-rating).”

Like Vander Linden, Ava Schilling is also in every ensemble and she talks about how Ram Jive has also gotten better during the jazz choir season.

“From the beginning of the jazz choir season we had a decent amount of new faces coming in this year and it’s been a blast to work with all of these people, they’re so much fun, and how we’ve evolved and grown as a group. I feel like, especially in the last month after we really got down to the music, the amount of stuff that we do with dynamic changes and tonal changes, just performing with the music has gone so far and gotten us so far.”

The Pops Concert starts at 7:30pm at the high school auditorium. There’s no admission charge and everyone is encouraged to attend.
