Dallas Center-Grimes High School girls basketball wins their first ever state title in program history Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs defeated North Polk in the Class 4A State Championship by a score of (57-50). Senior Emma Miner led the Mustangs to a victory shooting 6-16 from the field and scoring 23 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Dallas Center-Grimes as team shot 42 percent  from the field and made 9 three pointers in the championship game. Head Coach Adam Jones talks about the unbelievable run they went on.

“It’s an incredible feeling to win that last game. It’s not something that happens very often. They don’t hand those things out very easily. So we’re just extremely lucky, You know, I’m very, very lucky to be their coach. We’ve got a great bunch of great players, great kids, great teammates. I just feel very fortunate to be able to be called their coach.”

The Mustangs finish this championship run winning  12 straight games and three of them in Des Moines that include Glenwood in the quarterfinal (57-39), Ballard in the Semi-final (33-32) and North Polk to win the Class 4A State Championship at the Wells Fargo Arena.
