Interstate-80 eastbound is currently closed starting at the DeSoto exit.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at approximately 10:45am Saturday, a semi tractor-trailer struck the barrier on the south side of the road and overturned. After the vehicle came to a stop, it caught fire. Trooper Alex Dinkla tells Raccoon Valley Radio the fire has been extinguished and the driver of the semi is being treated for minor injuries. Crews are working to clear the debris as quickly as possible, but until then a detour for eastbound traffic has been put in place.

For those heading towards Des Moines, exit Interstate-80 at the DeSoto exit, and take Highway 169 north to Adel, then take Highway 6 east to R Avenue, where you can head south to get back on the interstate. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
