Residents of the Perry Lutheran Home alongside children of the Acorns and Oaks Christian Daycare made a special donation to the Raccoon River Pet Rescue on Wednesday.

PLH Director of Development Lynette Groenenboom says that the senior living facility teamed up with acorns and oaks children to make dog treats for the Raccoon River Pet Rescue. Groenenboom said that this idea came from wanting to serve Christ by serving others and their residents’ love for animals. She also talked about the excitement the act of giving gave to their residents.

“It’s wonderful to see the joy and the ability to get them out of the facility and get involved in the community and see the opportunity for our kiddos to partner with our residents. We love to see smiles on their faces.”

She says the dog treats took roughly an hour to make with the daycare children doing the mixing and the Lutheran home residents cutting the treats into shapes.
