The first round of the class 4A girls basketball state tournament happened yesterday, and three different teams Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team saw this year were able to make it to the state semifinals.
Conference foes Ballard and North Polk were both winners in the first round, with the Bombers defeating Decorah 58-44, and the Comets able to take care of Clear Creek – Amana 61-30. Dallas Center – Grimes was a non-conference opponent for ADM, and they were able to flex their muscle as the top seed in 4A and pick up the win 57-39 over a gritty Glenwood team.
The Tigers were not able to grab any wins against those teams this year, but did compete well and were competitive in many different games.
Ballard and DCG will be facing off in the semifinals tomorrow at 5 pm, while North Polk takes on Bishop Heelan, as there is a potential shot that we could see an all central Iowa final for 4A on Saturday.
