Adair-Casey / Guthrie Center High School Music Department is getting ready for its first performance heading into spring.
There will be a concert this Friday, featuring the jazz band, along with concert, swing, treble and bass choirs and musical theatre groups from the large group speech performances. The jazz band has many students performing, along with some solo performances. Kuya Kawaguchi, one of the soloists, shares why he decided to join the band.
“I come from Japan, as an exchange student. My school doesn’t have band, so I want (to) play with people, because I always play(ed) alone.”
Brennan Peterson is in the choir and he tells Raccoon Valley Radio how the choir groups got ready for the concert.
“With all the sectional work, we were able to really kind of dive into our parts and getting down what we need to do. And then we’re finally starting to kind of put it all together and get the flow working together.”
When asked what people can do to get ready to enjoy the concert, band director Kyra Babcock and choir director Kelsey Dinkla shared their thoughts.
“What can they do? Just come to our concert. I mean, it’s free admission, they can just come and enjoy, just be ready to listen to some good stuff.”
The concert starts at 6:30pm at the AC/GC High School Auditorium.
