The Greene County School Board recently approved next year’s school calendar.
While next year’s calendar remains virtually the same as this year, there is one major change. Superintendent Brett Abbotts tells Raccoon Valley Radio there is going to be early dismissals for students every Monday so that staff can have additional professional development time. He gives an example of how using more frequent professional development opportunities as being a benefit for the entire district.
“We just started with our new MAP tool so we’re looking at how to implement that, and it provides teachers that time to be able to do that. So they can adjust their lessons, they can adjust their instruction to best meet the needs of students. As we look at rolling out or implementing anything new, it gives them that time to roll through that and be able to actually work with it and have discussions, have training on it.”
Next year’s calendar has the first day of school on August 23rd and the last day of school for all students is slated for May 24, 2024. Additionally, winter break is eight days long from December 25th-January 3rd and spring break is from March 11th-15th, 2024.
