The boys’ basketball season ended on Saturday afternoon for Greene County with a loss at Kuemper Catholic in Carroll to the Knights by a score of 80-51. Greene County finishes with a 10-13 record and third place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference at 7-7.
Head coach Chris Nelson talks about the season. “I thought it was a pretty good year. Obviously, early on we had bouts of the flu and other illnesses we did unfortunately lose Nathan Behne to a knee injury, which hurt us, and it took a little bit to adjust to that. Overall, our guys were really competitive and we won some really good road games including at South Hamilton and at PCM in the same week, which is never easy to do.”
The coach added that there were a few games he wishes they could replay, but he added, “That’s basketball and that’s sports in general. I thought our kids battled well and finishing third in the conference was a nice thing, as was getting 10 wins.”
