A few weeks ago, legislators approved to increase the State Supplemental Aid by 3%, and one area superintendent gives his feedback.

Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that the increase is the second highest in the last 14 years. He adds that although inflation is higher than the 3%, he’s glad that legislators approved as high as they did, and that he realizes why they didn’t go any higher. Rasmussen tells Raccoon Valley Radio something schools should keep in mind though.

“But the one thing you do have to remember is if you have declining enrollment, you have less money there. So those schools with declining enrollment could still see less money from the state. But the 3%, like I said, it was the second highest in 14 years. We still need more because we are dealing with inflation, and we still have to take care of our teachers and everybody that works for the school system.”

Rasmussen mentions that the Guthrie Center School District has seen a slight increase in enrollment, while the Adair – Casey School District has seen a slight decrease.
