The Perry School District is taking steps to establish middle school boys and girls soccer teams in the future .
Superintendent Clark Wicks says that the school board heard a presentation from Brenda Mintun and other soccer supporters and the board approved to move forward with the item.
“The Board listened and felt like it was a very worthwhile program because it will involve getting more kids into soccer, being active and having a purpose.”
Wicks says the next step will be getting coaches lined up and schedules into place with a league in Des Moines that currently host middle school soccer teams. He expects the middle school teams to touch the pitch in the spring of 2024.
