Last year the Brenton Arboretum celebrated the 25th Anniversary of their first trees planted at their site and want to keep the celebration going. 

Executive Director Melissa Burdick says they will keep the momentum going commemorating the next 25 years of the planting of their first trees in their 141-acre arboretum in Dallas Center. Burdick says they are kicking off new programs this spring to get visitors out to the arboretum to witness their majestic trees and landscape. She started with the expansion of their nature club. 

“We had a lot of fun new programs. We’ve expanded our kids nature club, we’ve offered kids nature clubs for many, many years now. It’s a very popular program and it’s gotten so popular we’ve split it into three different age groups. And so Nature Club is every month. It’s, I believe, the first and third Thursday of every month. And each session will have a different environmental theme. So things like the prairie ecosystem are coming up.”

Burdick adds that they’re going to have field trip opportunities for homeschooled kids 

“We’re offering actual field trips just like we would offer to public schools who come out for a field trip to homeschooled kids, their homeschool teachers can register their students to participate in that.”
