A Boxholm man was recently arrested for an alleged December incident in Jefferson.

According to court documents, a Jefferson Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on December 2nd at 11:28pm on Highway 30, just west of North Mulberry Street for a vehicle that didn’t have operating license plate lights. The officer noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the driver, 57-year-old Eddie Simpson, admitted to having marijuana in the 2007 Chevrolet Impala. 

During the probable cause search of the vehicle, marijuana, along with other drug-related items were found and sent to the Criminalistics Laboratory for testing. The results came back positive for methamphetamine and marijuana on January 14th. 

Simpson was charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and an aggravated misdemeanor for his third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Simpson was arrested early Friday morning and booked into the Greene County Jail.
