The Perry School Board met on Monday.
The Board heard a presentation that involved creating a middle school girl and boy soccer team from Brenda Mintun and other soccer supporters and the Board listened and approved to move forward with that item.
Additionally, the Board approved the cash rent on the Darwin O. Calile Estate Property that is owned by the district from $240 to $325 per acre on the approximately 78 tillable acres. The money will be used for scholarships for seniors. Also the Board approved the purchase of the Go Guardian Beacon Software which will assist counselors and administrators with identifying students contemplating self-harm and other harmful acts for the cost of $78,876 and they approved the five-year licenses for the wireless network with the Juniper program for $118,105 which replaces their current outdated system. The Perry School Board approved the middle school band and choir trip to Minneapolis, bus specs for the purchase of the next new school bus, a recommendation to hire a Talented and Gifted Teacher (TAG) position, the Dallas County Iowa Hazard Mitigation resolution, recommendation for the 2022-23 cooperative sponsorship between Perry Community School District and the Madrid Community School District for Boys’ and Girls’ soccer and the increase to the extracurricular activity fees to align with the Heart of Iowa Conference.
