Not only does the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Officehelp keep the county safe, but they also police the city of Guthrie Center.
Sheriff’s Deputy Jesse Swensen says that this agreement came about in the form of a 28-E. He adds that this is a written agreement between entities which is used fairly frequently. He describes the agreement between the Sheriff’s Office and the City.
“Currently, the 28-E agreement that we have going on is a law enforcement services agreement with the city of Guthrie Center. It’s been going on approximately eight years, and the city and county have agreed together that the county will provide the law enforcement services for the citizens of Guthrie Center.”
Swensen mentions that this agreement came about at a time when Guthrie Center was having some problems keeping police officers, and the mayor at the time talked with Sheriff Marty Arganbright and decided to try something different. He adds that this isn’t the only 28-E agreement that the Sheriff’s Office has, and that some of the others are an agreement to help other law enforcement or emergency services in the county.
