The Adel Police Department is investigating an incident involving a male subject that died early Wednesday morning. 

According to a press release from the police department, an officer heard gunshots at 2:32am while on patrol in the area of 11th and Greene Streets. A  911 call came into the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch about the same time of a male that was down  at the intersection of highways 6 and 169. During the investigation it was determined that the victim died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The case has been referred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
