Dallas County Health gives out food safety reminders with many people planning on gathering for the big football game this weekend.
Health Navigation Coordinator Ann Cochran says the popular types of food displays during celebrations has always been the buffet style which can always have uninvited guests in the form of bacteria. Cochran reminds those hosting events to keep hot foods warm and cold foods chilled during the entirety of the party. She has a good idea for keeping food well maintained.
“You need to put out a little time. And when your guests then eat that up, then put out some more that has been held back in the refrigerator or in the oven, keeping warm, whatever. So that’s an important point.”
She encourages the host of the celebration to make sure guests wash their hands before going through the buffet line and to always have a serving utensil with every dish. Cochran also notes to mix up some of the dishes with some nutritional items for some health benefits.
