The high school basketball postseason is here. The Paton-Churdan girls lost last night in the opening round of Class 1A Region 2 play at Baxter to Baxter by a 57-19 final.The P-C boys play Glidden-Ralston at Glidden tonight at 7 o’clock in a 1A District play-in game.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rockets finish the season with a 2-20 record and they were led in scoring vs. Baxter by freshman Becca Anderson with nine points. Senior Emma Stream had seven. The Rockets trailed 31-8 at intermission and the 35-point margin running clock went into effect early in the fourth quarter. P-C ends the season at two wins and 20 losses, while the Bolts move on with a 15-4 record.
The Greene County boys played their regular season finale on Thursday night, losing to Treynor in Jefferson by a 76-45 final. The Rams are 9-12 and the Cardinals improved to 15-6. Treynor began with eight three-point goals in the first quarter, on just 10 attempts. Jace Tams making six in the first seven minutes. He finished with 21 points on seven three’s. The Cardinals were 11 of 21 from long range for the game. The Rams had 12 points from Richard Daugherty and 11 by Brynley Ruzicka. The Rams were eight of 22 on three-point shots with a trio of threes from Ruzicka.
Greene County opens girls 3A regional play at third ranked West Marshall in State Center on Saturday night at 7 on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Greene County boys start 2A district basketball in Jefferson at the high school gym vs. Woodward-Granger on Monday the 13th at 7, also on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
