A scholarship many in the West Central Valley School District may not know about is the International Travel Scholarship.

Stuart Library Foundation member Russ Wagner says that even though this scholarship presents a great opportunity for travel for those 18-25 years old living in the district, there aren’t many people who apply for it. He adds that to apply, individuals need to fill out an application, which can be found on the Stuart Library Foundation’s website, and submit it to the Foundation Board. Wagner says that the Board then reviews the applications, and conducts interviews before moving to the second phase.

Wagner tells Raccoon Valley Radio what applicants need to do in phase two of the application.

“And then if they’re selected for phase two, then they have to do all of their travel coordination, the costs associated, where they’re going. Obviously, you can’t go to countries on the State Department’s watch list. Iraq, Iran, Russia, Ukraine, places like that. Then once they do their phase two, we again review that together and select the participants that we feel should be chosen at that point.”

Since many people don’t apply for the scholarship, Wagner advises that those interested should look to apply for a chance at being chosen when next year’s scholarship is awarded. To apply, go to the link in this story online.
