The Perry boys basketball team turned in one of their better games of the season Tuesday night, defeating Greene County 71-56 inside the Perry Sports Pavilion. Zander Mahler led the Bluejays with 25 points while Geren Kenney finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Owen Myers added 10 rebounds as well. Perry shot 54% from the floor and connected on a season high 8-19 three point baskets. Mahler turned in a huge first half, scoring 14 of his 19 points in the second quarter. Perry connected on 15-20 from the foul line.
The Rams made a push midway through the third quarter following three’s by Gabe Ebersole and Trey Schilling. Kenney and Mahler responded with attacking drives to close out the quarter with an 8 point lead. Holden Smith and Owen Myers stepped up in the fourth quarter combing for 11 points in the final stanza, and sending the Bluejays to just their second win over the last 10 games.
Richard Daugherty led the Rams with 19 points, with 16 coming in the first half. Gabe Ebersole added 15 points.
Perry improves to 3-9 in the conference, while Greene County falls to 6-6 in Heart of Iowa action.
Perry returns home Thursday to host Woodward Academy.
