It’s time for a little double-trouble… we’ve got a second ADM/Van Meter girls soccer story for you today on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
With the Tigers taking on rival DC-G in a highly anticipated matchup tonight, we asked head coach Kelsey Dolder to pinpoint one of her players that could make the difference. Not surprisingly, senior captain and goal-scoring leader Carol Maher was mentioned.
“Carol is a fantastic player, such a hard worker. She’s a very fast player as well, and I think that works to her advantage. She just loves taking players on, always trying to beat players and getting that shot off… she’s been doing a fantastic job of that this year. She’s also a captain, so the girls look to her and she has great leadership skills.”
The Tigers could certainly use another couple of goals from Maher this evening, who has begun the season on a scoring tear. She has 10 goals through ADM’s first seven games.
What is it then that is Maher’s best attribute as a goal-scorer? Coach Dolder answers…
“Her drive–she is always looking to take players on, even if it isn’t the right choice to make. She just always wants to beat players on the dribble.”
With those 10 goals so far, Maher is one of just thirteen players in Class 2-A with double-digit goals on the season. Tonight she’ll go against a DC-G defense that has allowed eight goals in seven games.
