The Adel Fire Department will be getting two big new additions to their equipment sometime next year.

Fire Chief Braden Nemechek says the city council approved in April of 2022 to replace two of their aging trucks that are 21-years-old with two brand new Toyne freightliners trucks. Nemechek is excited to replace their second out engine with one of these new trucks that will be able to hold more equipment, as well as firefighters.

“It’ll have the capability to do all of our rescue operations out of, like, pulling the jaws of life and grain bin rescue and rope rescue, anything rescue related. We’ll be able to store on that truck and use it out of that truck, which makes it much safer on the road. Right now if we have a car accident where we have to use the jaws, we have to take our smaller F-150 (truck) and a fire engine as well, (and). if we need water on scene for any extrication.”

Nemechek says both these trucks will make their job a lot easier. He explains that the city expects the new trucks to be delivered in the spring of 2024.
