Cabin at Spring Lake Park

It may not look like it now, but camping season reservations are currently underway in Greene County.

County Conservation Director Tanner Scheuermann tells Raccoon Valley Radio the two cabins at Spring Lake Park continue to be filled every weekend in the warmer months, and reserving those have begun.

“Cabins are really starting to fill up already. So if you guys have a weekend planned that you want to get out and a good weekend in some cabins, definitely get on that now. Campsites are about the same, those reservations are also starting to fill up.”

Scheuermann talks about last year’s camping season.

“I think we’re kind of seeing, coming towards the end of the pandemic, kind of seeing numbers get back to normal. Everybody’s back to work and not able to go out camping during the week unfortunately every week. So yeah, we’re kind of seeing numbers back down into the 2018, 2019 range. We still had a pretty good year last year (in 2021) but again, I think that was just the residual effects of the pandemic.”

Scheuermann says along with the two cabins, there are also 23 campsites and every shelterhouse for all of the county parks listed online for people to reserve now. Click the link below to access the website.
