The Adel City Council met on Monday. 

The Council did a brief overview of the first draft of the fiscal year of 2024 budget including the 2022-2023 Goal Setting Session, Tax Levy Rate, the Debt Service and General Fund Revenue. 

The Council heard requests from every department in the city which started with the police department asking for additional funding for on-call officers, a School Resource Officer vehicle, body camera upgrade and new patrol vehicle equipment. The fire department requested to replace their Jaws of life and their two fire trucks. The library wanted to add tan additional full-time employee and an increase in funding for books. The parks department asked for funding for a second round of ash tree removal and stump grinding along with purchasing a John Deere Gator and the public works department wanted in their budget overview a water meter reading system for the Water Tower and department trucks.
