Perry Captures 2 Heart of Iowa Wrestling Championships

West Marshall won the 2023 Heart of Iowa wrestling championship Friday night inside the Perry Sports Pavilion.  The Trojans finished with 257.5 points, while PCM was 2nd with 222.  Greene County placed 3rd with 147 and Perry was 4th at 130 points.

Two Perry wrestlers won conference championships on the night.  Keegan Snyder won the title at 195 pounds defeating Nate Richards of PCM 4-2.  Kevin Colin took home the 220 pound title, knocking off Earnest Taylor of South Hamilton 4-3.

Perry’s Thad Stewart was the runner up at 113 pounds, losing in the finals to Kaden Weber of Nevada by fall.

Other individual results included Kyle Hernandez 4th at 132, Anthony Chavez 5th at 138, Juan Hernandez 3rd at 152, Kain Killmer 3rd at 182 and Jesse Rodriguez 4th at 285.
