The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District is facing staffing issues in some areas.

Superintendent Greg Dufoe says that the school board approved at their latest meeting a new certified staff report which is the initial phase of staffing recommendations for the 2023-24 school year. Dufoe explains they are looking for one teacher for both Adel and Meadow View Elementary along with a vocal music teacher for the Adel Middle School, highschool math and special education teachers. Dufoe says that this item was approved so early because the need for teachers has become very competitive.

“It’s still difficult, no doubt. There’s just a crunch for classified staff across all departments, including building associates, custodians, bus drivers. So we’re in pretty good shape, but it’s something we’re always keeping our eyes on.”

Dufoe says that this is their first round of new certified staffing recommendations and there could be more in the months of February and March.
