Mc Kinley Robbins
The annual Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Wrestling Tournament begins at 5 p.m. today inside the Perry High School gym. Greene County is expected to have several contenders for individual titles, including senior McKinley Robbins. He’s a three-time conference champion looking for HOIAC title number four, which is a rarity for the Jefferson-based program. Robbins has 151 career victories against just six losses, and he’s 35-0 this season and ranked number one in Class 2A at 138 lbs.
Junior Gavin Scheuermann is looking for conference title number two. He’s expected to go at 160 lbs. tonight, but a knee injury suffered during football season flared up at the Perry Invitational last Saturday and he accepted a forfeit vs. Roland-Story (Story City) in Jefferson on Tuesday night, but he did not wrestle against West Marshall (State Center), also on Tuesday.
Senior Kale Petersen is ranked number one in 2A at 132 lbs. and this is his first HOIAC tourney after sitting most of last season following a transfer from Class 1A West Fork (Sheffield). He’s 101-9 in his career and has won 64 matches in a row, including all 45 for Greene County.
