Wednesday, January 18th
2:13am: While on patrol an Officer noticed a vehicle at A&W. Due to the time the Officer checked on the vehicle and found an employee working inside.
10:11am: Janice Napolitano of Jefferson reported three dogs barking in the 1200 block of West Lincoln Way disturbing the peace. The Officer located the animal’s owner and gave a warning for the city code violation.
12:18pm: Debbie Beddow of Jefferson reported a dog barking in the 800 block of South Elm Street disturbing the peace. The Officer patrolled the area and heard no dogs barking.
12:36pm: Gary Hoffman of Jefferson reported two dogs running loose in the 700 block of West Harrison Street. The officer located the dogs, but could not catch them. The Officer attempted to find an owner and was unsuccessful.
1:28pm: Tamera Keck of Jefferson reported receiving harassing text messages. The Officer is investigating.
1:32pm: Dawna Helms of Jefferson reported a possible incident of Identity Theft. The Officer is investigating.
6::51pm: Demedrious Lyons of Jefferson reported having been involved in a single vehicle accident with a stoplight pole at the intersection of South Elm Street and West Russell Street. The Officer investigated the scene and found the following. Lyons was operating a white “2018” Jeep Compass southbound on South Elm Street approaching the intersection with West
Russell Street. Lyons attempted to turn east onto West Russell. Lyons slid on the snow-covered roadway. The front center of the vehicle contacted traffic control light pole on the southeast side of the intersection. The pole was knocked down. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at under $1000. The approximately cost for the repair of the pole has yet to be determined. Lyons was issued Citations for “Fail to Maintain Control” and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability- Accident Related”
9:53pm: Edward Beebe of Cedar Rapids reported a tree branch in the roadway near the intersection of Washington Street and Olive Street. The Officer removed the branch from the roadway.
10:03pm: Scott Foresman of Jefferson reported a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Clark and Grimmell Road. The Officer checked on the vehicle and found the driver was not in need of assistance.
**As a result of the snowfall, six citations were issued for a violation of “Parking in violation of Snow Ordinance”
