Local road crews in Greene County have been busy this morning following an overnight winter storm.
Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan tells Raccoon Valley Radio they were out clearing city streets of snow from midnight to 9am. He says all routes have the snow cleared from curb to curb and so the snow ordinance is not in effect for the residential areas. He points out crews will be back out tonight at 10pm to clear any additional snow in the residential areas and haul out the windrowed snow on the downtown square. Morlan adds plow trucks were having issues earlier this morning when they tried to turn a corner and the heavy snow prevented them from doing that.
Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss says secondary road crews started clearing county roads of snow at 5am. He notes crews will remain out until 5pm and will hit all of the county roads tomorrow morning starting at 5am.
