The second round of voting is underway for the Dan Gable Mr. Wrestler of the Year Award through Fareway Stores Inc., and IAwrestle in coordination with the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association. Starting with a list of 15, the list of candidates in Class 2A has been narrowed to just seven and two are from Greene County. Undefeated and top ranked Kale Petersen and McKinley Robbins got enough votes from a panel of experts, plus the voting public to advance. Voting is underway through Jan. 29 to determine three finalists. The IAwrestle website has voting details.

Greene County wrestles in Perry at 5 p.m. tomorrow at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Tournament, then goes to the Ed Winger Invitational at Urbandale at 9 a.m. Saturday. Several ranked teams from all three classes will compete in Urbandale including the top four Class 3A rated squads. Greene County is ranked seventh in 2A. Multiple individual past State Champions will be in the field Saturday including Petersen and Robbins.
